HUBS Project News
Blade Education are delighted to announce that the Help Us Be Safe project (HUBS) will be continuing in 2026 thanks to the generosity of Lottery players.
Thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Awards for All, the HUBS Emergency Hand Book for Adults will be researched and created by adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA).
With flu cases causing extra pressures in hospitals and far too many people feeling that A&E is their only place to go with medical issues, the HUBS Emergency Hand Book allows adults with LDA to explore how to offer solutions to their community to keep us all healthier and safer in 2026.
Blade Education would also like to thank the Essex Community Foundation and the Four Acre Core Cost Fund for their continuing support for Making Care Fair in 2026.
For more information about Making Care Fair and HUBS please see their dedicated website at: www.makingcarefair.org

Help US BE SAFE ONLINE TRAINING

The Help Us Be Safe project was run with the idea that adults with LDA who were facing difficulties on our local high streets could receive help from the community and from those who work in local shops and businesses.
So the HUBS team, working with our LDA Steering Group who all have experience of problems in the community of one type or another, have devised this training video to help you understand the different needs of a very diverse group of individuals who may need your help.
Many thanks to Arwen, Andre, Craig, Gary, Glen, Jayne, Kerry, Matt, Nick, and Robbie for making this project possible,
to Highlands Methodist Church for hosting HUBS meetings, to the Essex PFCC for funding HUBS, and to everyone who has contributed their time and effort to making it a success.
